Remy van Heugten (Heerlen, The Netherlands, 1976) directs films and television drama series. He has a great predilection for contemporary, socially engaged stories and complex family relationships.

Remy is best known for his feature film GLUCKAUF (SON OF MINE), which premiered in 2015 at the International Film Festival Rotterdam as one of the Tiger Award nominees. The film received high praise for its honest portrayal of a father-son relation suffering from financial hardships. At the Netherlands Film Festival of 2015 GLUCKAUF won 4 Golden Calves (alongside 6 nominations) for Best Director, Screenplay, Cinematography and Best Film.

In 2023 Remy’s second feature MASCOT premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival in Utah where it received raving reviews for it’s bald, brutal and gritty style. MASCOT has been selected for several festivals worldwide and has a US cinema release in 2023.

In addition to his filmwork Remy directed several television drama series such as JUDAS: DAGBOEK VAN EEN GETUIGE (JUDAS: DIARY OF A WITNESS, 2022), HET A WOORD (THE A WORD, 2020), VAN GOD LOS (GODFORSAKEN, 2011), FEUTEN (FRESHMEN, 2010), the television film WITTE VIS (WHITE FISH, 2009), WILLEMSPARK (2007) and the short film SHAHRAM & ABBAS (2006). His highly appreciated youth series HOE OVERLEEF IK? (HOW TO SURVIVE?, 2012) was awarded the Cinekid 'Kinderkast' Prize and was nominated for a Rose d’Or.

Remy graduated from both the Higher School of Arts in Genk (B) (2000) and the Netherlands Film Academy in Amsterdam (2004). His graduation film ABOUT ROSES (2004) won several (inter)national awards and was nominated for the Student Academy Awards.
